Regular headphones can identify a heart rate and hear your conversations

Headphones could be made with built-in microphones, touch-sensitive buttons, motion sensors and even heart-rate monitors. But researchers have found a method to bring each one of these features to any existing couple of standard headphones, irrespective of age or cost. The technique could replicate the features of smart headphones without the price and environmental impact of making new devices – plus they could even be used to eavesdrop on a conversation or verify the identity of the wearer.
